Phacus Genus: Highly flattened; pellicle firm ; body form constant (Kudo, 1966). Chloroplasts small, discoid, pyrenoids usually absent; most species flat and leaf-shaped ; often with ridges or fins running helically or longitudinally (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
